SVO, a car tuning and remapping garage based in Birmingham, approached us to improve their Google Ads performance after struggling with ineffective campaigns. However, upon auditing their existing setup, we quickly identified a critical issue: their website was not designed to convert traffic effectively. It was slow, used a generic template, lacked trust signals, and failed to provide a personal touch - common pitfalls for small and local service-based businesses trying to run Google Ads.
What started as a simple Google Ads management request soon evolved into a full website overhaul, combined with a highly targeted advertising strategy. By designing a conversion-optimised site and refining the ad strategy, we dramatically improved lead generation while ensuring high buyer intent.

Website Challenges & The Need for a Revamp
SVO initially sought help with their Google Ads campaigns, but we quickly noticed a fundamental issue—while they were getting clicks, the website was not built to convert visitors into customers. This is a common issue with local service businesses, where a slow, poorly structured site with minimal trust signals can lead to wasted ad spend.
Their previous ads all pointed to a single homepage, and their campaign was set up with just one ad group—a generic structure that fails to drive targeted traffic. With limited keyword coverage and lack of dedicated landing pages, visitors were not getting the relevant information they needed to make a quick decision.
To address this, we proposed a complete website rebuild alongside a properly structured Google Ads campaign.
Strategic Website Redesign
We began by conducting in-depth keyword and competitor research, analysing 10 competitors in the industry to identify key opportunities.
From this research, we structured the new website to include:
Landing pages for each key service – AdBlue delete, remapping, stage 1 remap, O2 Lambda off, and more
Dedicated landing pages for each car make – Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and others
A Car Tuning Gains Calculator – an interactive tool that engages users by allowing them to estimate potential tuning performance gains for their vehicle
Each landing page was tailored to its specific service or car make, ensuring visitors received the exact information they were searching for. This structure not only improved Google Ads performance but also boosted organic SEO rankings over time.


Google Ads Strategy & Optimisation
With the website now optimised for conversions, we restructured the Google Ads campaign to be highly targeted. Instead of one generic ad group, we built:
Ad groups for each service (e.g., AdBlue delete, remapping, tuning)
Ad groups for each car brand (e.g., Audi tuning, BMW remapping)
Hybrid ad groups targeting specific services for specific car brands (e.g., “Audi stage 1 remap”)
This allowed for super-focused ad campaigns that delivered users directly to the most relevant landing page, increasing the likelihood of conversions.


Filtering Out Low-Intent Leads
While the new Google Ads campaign generated leads immediately, the SVO team reported that some leads were from non-serious buyers or “time wasters.” We addressed this by shifting the focus to urgent, high-intent services.
We prioritised ads for AdBlue delete & van remapping, as these services tend to have a more transactional intent—customers often need an immediate fix because their vehicle is experiencing issues.
We fine-tuned keyword targeting to reduce generic enquiries and instead attract buyers ready to book a service.
This shift significantly improved lead quality, ensuring that SVO’s time was spent on valuable, revenue-generating customers.
